The Rainbow Project | 250 Messages of Love

A project celebrating 250 years by spreading love, and sparking joy, one rainbow at a time!

For years our rainbow tumblers have quietly found their way into kitchens across the country. They’ve celebrated birthdays, comforted friends, welcomed new babies, been wrapped as gifts in difficult seasons, shared a morning coffee… Somewhere along the way, our colorful little cups became something a little bit more - they became messages reminding people that they are loved. We couldn’t be happier about that.

Our country just celebrated its 250th year, and we couldn’t help but think that it’s the perfect time to plant seeds of love and spark joy all over the world in celebration.

We’ve decided to make and sell 250 Rainbow Tumblers for the month of July at our original price point of $65 each. *This is a preorder item

Our hope is that these 250 rainbows find homes where they’re used often, and that they become part of everyday moments that make life beautiful. We want them to spark joy when they are looked at, and serve as a reminder that love, kindness, and building a trusting community really matters.

For every 50 Rainbow Tumblers purchased, we’ll gift a Beale Pottery Rainbow Scholarship to someone in our community who could use a little more joy - a teacher, a caregiver, a veteran, someone navigating a difficult season, or simply someone who has always wanted to experience clay but never had the opportunity. With every purchase you can nominate someone to receive a Rainbow Scholarship for $250, and we will pick a recipient based on need each month for the remainder of the 2026 calendar year.
*Recipients may choose to stay anonymous.

Each rainbow tumbler will be handcrafted individually and in collaboration by Eric and Milissa Beale. Each cup will be numbered, and then signed with a special signature to celebrate the project.

Please Note: Preorders begin on July 6th, and we are hoping to sell all 250 cups within the month. Preorders will close when stock is depleted, or on July 31st. We are allowing ourselves 10 weeks to complete this project. Your orders will all be beautifully gift packaged and shipped out on September 14th.

Help us send 250 colorful reminders that the world is still full of love!

  • Our Place.

We’re a family operated small batch production pottery shop. We moved our family and our business to our current location in July of 2022. After renovations were complete we resumed production work and then began offering a variety of workshops, events, and monthly memberships. We have also added a retail area for shopping in the studio. We are open Tues - Sat from 10-5pm. If you’d like to stop by the studio outside of those hours, please reach out via email, or give us a call. We’d be happy to schedule a time for a visit!

  • Our Design Inspiration.

If we’re not busy in the studio you can find us out exploring a trail somewhere, at the beach taking a dip in Lake Michigan, listening to live music somewhere, or simply finding time to spend with our family and friends. We live just 7 miles South of the Indiana Dunes National Park, and it boasts one of the most diverse ecosystems you’ll find in the midwest. Identifying wildflowers and plants within our area has become one of our favorite things to do. You may notice that many of our illustrations reflect the wonders we find in the nature around us. Our family and our community are also very important to us, and inspire much of what we make.

  • Our Process.

Our process is to work in batches. Each piece is created on the potters wheel or by slab construction. Our pieces go through an initial firing before they’re hand decorated with vibrant colors and designs, and then fired a second time. Some of our work gets decorated further with lusters or decals, and fired yet a third time. Most of our glazes are created here in-house, and formulated to be food safe. We are always striving to improve, learn, and grow as artists. Once there is a collection of finished work that we’re proud of, we’ll host a stock drop online. This process usually takes 6-8 weeks.
